In today's video, we're going to talk about a mind-blowing fact that will leave you speechless.......
Did you know that the shortest war in
history lasted only 38 minutes? Yes, you heard that right! It's called the Anglo-Zanzibar War and it happened on August 27th, 1896. The war was fought between the British Empire and the Zanzibar Sultanate, and it's considered the shortest recorded war in history.
The war started when the British government decided to replace the pro-Arab sultan with a pro-British one. However, the new sultan, Khalid bin Barghash, refused to step down, and instead, he barricaded himself inside the palace with his army. The British government responded by sending three cruisers, two gunboats, and 150 marines to attack the palace.
At 9:02 am, the British opened fire on the palace, and within minutes, the sultan's flag was down, and the palace was on fire. The entire war lasted only 38 minutes, and it ended with the surrender of the sultan and his army.
