The Kids Show, hosted by Sikh Scholar Kiranpreet Kaur and Sikh Student Rajveer Singh is an attempt to educate young Sikhs about the Sikh religion. Young Sikhs face much adversity during their school days from questioning to bullying. It's important to work on prevention by educating our youngsters to articulate themselves correctly so that they can successfully challenge the questions that they face.
So today's question seems fairly simple, but it is something that most people don't seem to know. in contrast to popular belief, a Sikh is not a learner, disciple or student. A Sikh as per the Sikh Rehat Maryada created by the Akal Takht is;
Any human being who faithfully believes in:
• One Immortal Being
• Ten Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh
• The Guru Granth Sahib
• The utterances and teachings of the Ten Gurus
• The baptism bequeathed by the tenth Guru, and who does not owe allegiance to any other religion is a Sikh.
As well as this though, a Sikh is a compassionate, hardworking person who believes in the one universal creator and thus sees all humans as that one universal creator. Becoming a Sikh means you abide by the rules of diversity and freedom, and stand up against anyone who opposes these.
