Aerial video from pro-Russian forces in Mariupol depicts what they said were attacks on Ukrainian positions at the Azovstal steel plant, though the footage also includes overhead views of the Illich steel plant, located north of Azovstal.
The undated video, published on May 4 by the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) – one of the Kremlin’s two proxy governments in east Ukraine – shows the movement of military vehicles on the ground, including one driving through the Illich steel plant (from 17 seconds), and a heavy bombardment of the Azovstal plant (from 34 seconds).
At one point in the video, one or more munitions ripple across multiple layers of a building, and heavy smoke is seen pouring from the area.
