Sally still has 60 mph winds, but is forecast to get stronger as wind shear is dying down, over warm water and the atmosphere is moist. Deep convection is now firing up near the Center. Forecast wind near landfall will be about 90 mph, so Sally is still forecast to be a Cat 1 hurricane at landfall. The storm is slowing down, since steering currents are weaker. Now moving NW 8 mph. Sally will move close to the Mouth of the River Tuesday morning. This is much slower than before. Earlier Sally was forecast to be near the Mouth of the River late Monday Night or early Tuesday. Forecast now to move towards the Mississippi Coast Tuesday night. This is a slow mover which will cause heavy rain and high storm surge.
