Darjeeling, June 24 (ANI): As the indefinite shutdown called by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) entered its 13th day, locals’ trouble didn’t seem to finish off as the whole region is reeling under crisis. The GJM had earlier offered a 12-hour window to the schools in the Darjeeling hills to evacuate their students safely to Siliguri and Rongpo. Known for its tea gardens, the ongoing shutdown has pushed them to the brink. The whole region is under a volatile situation as the outraged GJM agitators are demanding a separate state of ‘Gorkhaland’ and they are also opposing the imposition of Bengali as a compulsory language in the state schools.
