Hey guys! This is a video I wanted to do for quite a while but I wanted to make sure it's lengthy and thorough, so here it is - how to create these metallic rustling foley patterns you hear in quite a few future garage tracks :)
In this video we're going through things you can record to get the metallic sound we're after & how to create a rhythm with your recordings using sidechain & volume envelopes.
Then I go through some tips for additional effects you can add to your metal foley samples, how you can create metallic hihats from your recordings, and how you can dampen the harsh high frequencies from this type of foley with a multiband compressor.
If you don't want to record your own metallic foley, I also featured a sample I recorded for this video specifically of a tambourine :)
If there's a subject/sound you want me to cover in one of my future tutorials let me know in the comments below ;)
Enjoy!
