At the end of 1965, Nuccio Bertone conceived the most extraordinary car that had ever been built up until that time: it was the Lamborghini Miura, a supercar with a V12, centrally monuted transverse engine. Helped by his new stylist Marcello Gandini, Bertone created a body that left everyone all but speechless at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966. Low on the road and oozing with aggressive beauty, the new wonder cas was crammed with wealth of five years, Bertone produced around 850 finished bodies for the car. Born of a revolutionary design project, the Lamborghini Miura P400 had a platform chassis in boxed sheet metal and a V112 engine centrally located trasversal of 3929 cc (350 hp at 7000 rpm). Built on the wheelbase of 2500 mm, the car was 4370 mm long, 1760 mm wide and 1050 mm high and its kerb weight was 1075 kg. The Miura accelerated to the fantastic speed of 290 km/h and was an out-and-out sensation the arrival of which spread through the motor industry like wildfire.
