Yesterday brought Greater Anglia Class 321359 and 321355 to an end as these were getting sent to Newport scrap. With lovely weather in the UK cheering up those who went to see the Class 321 scrap. Rail Operations Group Class 57312 is placed on duty for scrap working the 598C Clacton C.S.D. - Newport Docks (simsgroup).
The British Rail Class 321 are AC Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) that were built in 1988. Nicknamed the “Dusty bins” among enthusiasts, these were designed to replace slam door AC EMUs in the Anglian region. Some Class 321s in the Greater Anglia fleet had many adventures such as working in Northern, Scotrail and First Capital Connect.
Unfortunately Class 321s do not meet the PRM compliance which results them being disposed however some are kept for Hydrogen conversion which will be known as British Rail Class 600 nicknamed “Breeze”.
We bid these Anglian Dusty Bins a grand farewell.
