Nigeria's Supreme Court has delivered its verdict, dismissing the appeals of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party's (LP) Peter Obi. These appeals challenged President Bola Tinubu's victory in the February 25 presidential election. The Supreme Court upheld the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, confirming President Tinubu's legitimacy as the elected President of Nigeria.
In its ruling, the seven-judge panel found that the opposition appeals, which alleged fraud, violations of electoral law, and President Tinubu's ineligibility to run for president, lacked merit. The court also determined that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s failure to electronically transmit the result of the 2023 presidential election did not affect the outcome, which was won by Bola Tinubu.
