The Spinnaker Croft is a truly spectacular watch.
The lovely blue gradient dial is a joy to look at and is protected by beautiful domed sapphire glass. Beating inside the Croft series and visible through the display caseback is a Miyota 8218, a Japanese automatic movement with a 40 hour power reserve and 21 jewels.
Miyota has been making its way into more and more watches, and for good reason. The movements are reliable, easily serviceable, and keep great time. This movement displays a sub-dial for the running seconds, and features a date at the 3 o’clock position.
The watch features a sapphire crystal, with a cyclops magnifier over the date, not something seen too often outside of a few specific brands. The hands and hour markers are all lumed with Super-LumiNova.
The Croft has a unidirectional dive style bezel, with an aluminum insert that is color matched to the dial. In addition to the color matching, the bezel is 120 clicks, which no doubt will give it a satisfying feel whilst using the bezel.And of course with its dive watch style and specifications, the Spinnaker Croft is water-resistant to 150m.
The leather strap and mere 12mm thickness (15mm including glass) make the watch comfortable and suited for every day wear.
If there’s one particular style of tool watch that is universally accepted, it’s the dive watch. Something about them always calls back to the great history of watchmaking innovation.
With the Croft line, Spinnaker has released a line of vintage inspired dive watches paying respect to diving pioneer Robert Croft.
The Spinnaker Croft is a nicely designed, colorful dive watch, providing a lot of value and style for the price. It’s not often that you can find a well done dial with a color matched bezel, unique design, reliable Miyota movement, and even a cyclops all together on the same watch, let alone for this price.
