World’s longest cruise tour, the MV Ganga Vilas cruise culminated its journey in Assam. It reached Dibrugarh after a 50-day river journey which began from Varanasi. The tourists were welcomed by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal at an event. Union ministers Shripad Yesso Naik, Rameshwar Teli were also present. Shipping minister from Bangladesh Khalid Mohammad Chowdhury was also present at the event. Tourists were felicitated upon arrival at the Dibrugarh and cultural programmes were also organised at the event for the tourists. The cruise entered Assam on February 17 via Bangladesh. The cruise covered a distance of 3,200 km across 27 river systems in 5 states in India and Bangladesh to complete the voyage. Onboard tourists visited 50 tourist spots including world heritage sites, national parks and river ghats on their journey. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the cruise from Varanasi on January 13.
