The National Hurricane Center has issued tropical storm warnings and watches, including for the Tampa Bay region, ahead of potential impacts from Tropical Storm Debby this weekend.
However, the Caribbean disturbance currently being monitored is not yet a "depression" or a "storm" — it is being called Potential Tropical Cyclone Four. It hasn't become organized enough to reach a higher status but the designation allows forecasters to identify areas of disturbed weather close to land that are expected to become tropical cyclones.
Potential Tropical Cyclone 4 is located about 420 miles southeast of Key West, Florida, and is moving to the west-northwest at 16 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center's latest update.
