Prince Charles meets an old friend in church while Camilla is sent to prison – for lunch
PRINCE CHARLES and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall went north today to spend the day in Cheshire.
On his tour of the county the Prince was reunited with an old friend when he visited the Norcliffe Unitarian Chapel at Styal, Wilmslow – among the congregation was former Highgrove organist Alan Myerscough.
The prince also visited Styal Primary School where the children performed for him. He is also visiting the Quarry Bank National Trust site.
The National Trust site includes the historic cotton mill; the mill owner's home and the Apprentice House which was once home to the community who worked in and around the mill.
Meanwhile, sheltering under an umbrella the Duchess of Cornwall went to visit an unusual eatery – The Clink restaurant is based inside HMP Styal.
There she will meet prisoners receiving work-based training and education and hear about the work of The Literacy Trust.
Then the Royal Couple will travel to The Old Saw Mill, a community hub run by local volunteers, and the Treo Memorial Statue to attend a celebration of 700 years of the mayoralty of Congleton.
