Project name: Ayia Napa Mariana - Event Center Scaffold
Main Contractor: Terna SA
Scaffolding Subcontractor: Muehlhan Cyprus ltd
The exercise: Muehlhan Cyprus have been commissioned to carry out the design, erection, adaption and dismantle of an independent scaffolding structure, externally and around the steel structure, which has a complicated geometry of asymmetric elliptical cone. System scaffold was used by subcontractor for the installation of the aluminum & glass curtain walls and the shading system of the structure.
The solution: Totally 25 independent scaffold towers connected together were constructed. Towers consisted of a main part, with a width of 0,75m+1,00m=1,75m. All 6 vertical standards of the main tower were supported with base plates on the ground level.
At the area close to the main entrance, where the inclination of the steel structure is smooth, access provided with console brackets 0,25m & 0,50m long, adjusted to the main tower standards. At all other areas, access to the inclined steel structure achieved by means of cantilevered suspended scaffold, projecting gradually from main tower, following the inclination of the steel structure. The cantilevered part of the scaffold, varied from 1,00m at main entrance to 7,25m at the rear.
Scaffold braced at the external steel rings of the structure, by means of scaffold tubes and couplers, and a special designed pipe clamp, stabilizing and securing the scaffold against horizontal forces. Additionally, vertical loads developed at the cantilevered parts of the scaffold, were undertaken by suspending the cantilevers from the external steel rings, using steel wires. In both bracing methods, special care was carried out to protect the surface of the steel rings from damages, using rubber stripes.
Maximum height of Towers: 20m
Scaffold quantity: 3.000m2
Scaffold type: Galvanized steel ring-lock scaffold
