I'm naturally a really frugal person. But I think even for me living on the federal minimum wage might be challenging. My goal is to try and live off $7.25/ hr without making very many sacrifices in my normal routine.
I would also like to note that even though the minimum wage is $7.25 in TN, I couldn't actually find any businesses paying minimum wage. Even the fast food restaurants were slightly above minimum wage and grocery stores (which were all hiring) are significantly above minimum wage. I saw a few fast food places offering sign on bonuses as well. And there were some packaging/manufacturing jobs paying around $16-$17/hr that did not require a degree.
