- From Christchurch allow a day trip there and back
- Stay a little closer around the Methven / Ashburton area or if you have the budget on a waterfront at Lake Hood
Accomodation nearby:
- Stay at Mount Potts lodge or one of their cabins which is only a short drive to the car park [ Ссылка ]

Road to Mount Sunday
- Once off the main road you need to travel on a dirt/gravel road for about 1 hour to get to the carpark. If the weather is fine a car or 2 wheel drive SUV is OK. I'm guessing you may need a 4x wheel dive if it is raining or snowing
Carpark
- There is nothing at the carpark but there are toilets
Walk from the carpark
- About a 30 - 40 minute walk up to the top of Mount Sunday. There is a basic track, just follow the markers.
- A few small timber bridges have been installed since the movie was made to help cross several streams
- Gets a little steep near the end but if you are OK with walking up hills it should not be a problem
Weather
- Was warm when I was there in February, take a hat and sunscreen. I understand it snows in winter
Remains of the film set buildings
- Nothing remains of the film set, only some cut off bolts can be seen in the rocks at the top, but they are well hidden. The condition on using the site for the film was the area must be left in its original pristine condition. They even carefully removed the grass and shrubs before the set was built and set up a nursery before replanting after the set was dismantled
