The Orang Asli in several settlements in Kelantan have demanded the state government to gazette forest areas to the tribes as a move to protect these from being encroached by logging and farming activities.
A group comprising 17 Orang Asli village heads expressed this during a short meeting with Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob outside the state assembly sitting hall.
The group, led by Hendrop village headman Bidi Romli, also handed to Ahmad a memorandum containing details on farming activities in Lojing and Gua Musang.
