Welcome to the Saturday Vigil Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent. Our readings today invite us to reflect upon both faith and trust.
In our reading from Micah, we hear of the promise that our Savior will come from Bethlehem. Our Gospel today speaks of Mary's visit to Elizabeth. Both Mary and Elizabeth trusted in God's word and allowed God to work in their lives. At the end of the Gospel reading, Elizabeth speaks of Mary's trust in the Lord when she declates that Mary is blessed because she believed that what was spoken to her would be fulfilled.
As we approach the end of this Advent season, let us take time to reflect upon the gift of Mary in our lives and her unconditional yes to becoming the Mother of our Lord. May we each experience the birth of our Lord anew in our lives.
The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 80: "Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved.
