On October 11th, 1971, the Giants approached this game with a 2--1 record and ended up 4-10 for the season. QB Fran Tarkenton was traded back to the Vikings a few months later where he went on to take the Vikings to 3 Super Bowls in the next 5 years. Dallas was also 2-1 at the time and ended up with a 11-3 record and their first Super Bowl win. This was the Cowboys last game at the Cotton Bowl as they were to move to Texas Stadium for the next home game.
