Penshurst Place is a historic building in Kent, United Kingdom. The present manor house was built in 1341. It was built as a country residence for Sir John de Pulteney, Lord Mayor of London.
In 1521 King Henry VIII took over the estate and it stayed in the crown estate the rest of Henry’s reign. The King used Penshurst Place as a hunting lodge.
Today it is the current home of the Sidney family. The house and beautiful gardens are open to the public.
