A famous sweet of Saouth canara and Kasaragod is "Saatu". It is prepared by using maida, ghee and sugar.a perfect saatu has layers in the core part and a gap like structure which you can observe in the video. After deep frying all the balls, cool them and then dip in the sugar syrup (4 string) immediately take out and arrange on a plantain leaf. Some tips are given in the video. If such tips are followed, one can prepare a perfect Saatu.
Ingredients :
Ghee 2cups (200grms)
Maida flour 1seru (750 grms)
Sugar 3/4 seru (750 grms)
Cardomom 10 grms
Cow milk 1/4th cup
Coconut oil for deep fry (1 ltr)
