Puli, previously recognized as Puli Town, rests in the heart of the Puli Basin and was historically a part of Shuishilian during the Qing Dynasty. Over time, its central location among the scenic areas of Central Taiwan has transformed it into a significant tourist destination in the region. Serving as the hub of the northeastern district of Nantou County, Puli, along with Guoxing, Yuchi, and Renai, offers a variety of economic, cultural, and medical services. Jinan University, also known as Jida, is the sole national university situated in Nantou County, Taiwan. Its origins can be traced back to the "Jinan School," founded in Nanjing during the late Qing Dynasty. As a member institution of the National Taiwan University system, JNU presently comprises five colleges, namely the College of Humanities, the College of Management, the College of Science and Technology, the College of Education, and the Shuishin College.
