Please no spoilers in the comments! I have a separate discussion video for that. [ Ссылка ]
I filmed this twice before I settled on writing it out and doing a voice recording. The review itself starts at 0:57. The review is still not as good as I would like, but I'm not going to let the perfect be the enemy of the barely adequate. Given the book's age (first published in 1968) and storytelling, it is not a good introduction to fantasy. However, when you are ready to begin exploring the history of the fantasy genre, it is a must read.
Earthsea Hillbilly ( A parody of The Ballad of Jed Clampett - Theme song for The Beverly Hillbillies - composed by Paul Henning and performed by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs)
Lyrics:
Intro:
Come and listen to a story ‘bout a boy named Ged,
A poor goatherd who barely stayed fed.
And then one day, the Kargs came to kill,
And Ged raised a mist, off a cliff did they spill.
Down that is, magic spells, illusion
Well the next thing you know Ged is apprenticed to a mage,
But Ged is too restless to listen to a sage.
Ged just couldn’t understand, that magic is no joke,
The mage forced Ged to choose, obey or off you go to Roke
Island that is, Isle of the Wise, Wizard’s school.
Outro:
Well now it’s time to say goodbye and enjoy this day in spring
I would like to thank you folks for kindly listenin’ to me sing.
I don’t when I’ll read the next book, you’ll have to wait and see,
But when I do you’ll find my review at this locality.
Booktube that is, sit a spell, don’t take off your shoes
Y'all come back now, y'hear?
