Chronic Mechanical Irritation and Oral Cancer- A focused review from Beyond Borders series
ABOUT THE TOPIC: Mechanical irritation or trauma is a common cause of oral lesions. Traumatic injuries mainly produce reactive lesions, which usually are easy to diagnose and treat.
A much-debated association between Chronic Mechanical Irritation [CMI] and oral cancer has recently received renewed attention.
This lecture will examine the association given the experimental and epidemiological evidence. Provide an in-depth review of CMI and possible progression pathways from chronic irritation to malignancy.
