In a bid to reduce their dependence on Russian gas, European countries are looking at Azerbaijan to boost their natural gas imports. Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia agreed to boost the transfer of natural gas from Azerbaijan on April 25. The European countries will be using the existing infrastructure, which were until recently highly dependent on Russian energy. The agreement is expected to bring bigger and more secure gas supplies to many more countries in Europe. However, some analysts believe that these opportunities can also come with risks for Europe.
