Introduced in 1932, The Alvis Speed 20 was to earn an enviable reputation for its performance and high quality. The final version, designated ‘SC’, appeared in 1935 and benefited from an enlarged engine, displacing 2.8 litres. Further improvements included a syncromesh transmission and independent front suspension. The model was eventually superseded by the Speed 25 in 1937, by which time some 1165 examples of the earlier car had been produced.
