Moscow said Saturday it had withdrawn its troops from Lyman, a key town in eastern Ukraine that lies in one of the four Ukrainian regions that Russia has annexed, to avoid being surrounded by the Ukraine army. This prompted Ramzan Kadyrov, head of Russia’s region of Chechnya, to reportedly suggest that Moscow should consider using a low-yield nuclear weapon in Ukraine after the major defeat. The head of the IAEA, UN’s nuclear watchdog, called for the release of the director-general of Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, saying his detention posed a threat to safety and security. Ihor Murashov had been detained by a Russian patrol on Friday.
