The Vanderbilt Institute for Digital Learning (VIDL) partnered with Doctor David Aronoff on a short video showcasing
his trans-institutional research effort to establish a gestational tissue biobank called Project PLACENTA (PathLink ACquired gEstatioNal Tissue bAnk). Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center are uniquely positioned to build this tissue repository, which would allow investigators across disciplines to study routinely discarded gestational tissues together with data from the electronic medical record. Project PLACENTA is one of many ways Dr Aronoff is building momentum for research on preventing adverse pregnancy outcomes and prematurity, known as the Vanderbilt Pre3 Initiative. As Director of the Pre3 Initiative, Dr Aronoff leads an interdisciplinary team of faculty and trainees with a shared mission to improve maternal child health through discovery, innovation, implementation, and education.

This video is one in a series of VIDL-produced videos showcasing research at Vanderbilt. VIDL hopes to use these short films
to explain the research for a general campus audience and to highlight how the research impacts learning both on campus and beyond.
