Today, we're going to take a look at the etrailer.com aluminum trailer coupler lock for the flat lip two and five-sixteenths ball couplers. Now, this is a nice tamper-resistant, sturdy lock that'll prevent trailer theft by preventing hookup of your coupler to the hitch ball. It's designed to fit over a trigger style coupler, engaging it like your trailer ball does. And then, would-be thieves can't secure the unhitched trailer to their own tow vehicles. The lock is designed to fit over couplers that have a flat or rolled lip, blocking access to the hitch ball opening. Just want to show you what we're talking about.

I pulled a coupler here that has the two and five-sixteenths diameter hitch ball it fits on. And you can see there's the rolled or flat lip we're talking about that the lock will go on. So, your coupler fits will have to have that lip.And then, basically what you'll do is take your keys, open the lock, quarter of a turn, and that pin drops down, allows you to slide it onto that lip. And then once you get it on, you just push back on that pin into the hitch ball opening, turn the key back a quarter of a turn and you can see it's locked on. And with it locked on, there's no way anybody could hook onto a hitch ball and try to take your trailer.

And then to remove it, the same way, you just put the key in, turn it, the pin drops down, it slides right off. It's a heavy duty extruded tempered aluminum body, which is very strong and durable and rustproof. The lock housing has a nice double nickel chrome finish to it. The whole lock itself has a silver powder coat finish to help resist corrosion.And if you notice when you install it, the lock will sit at the front of the vice for quick, easy access to open or close it. And it is a pick-resistant design, has the double-sided automotive type keys, which are simple to use.

Just put it in there, turn it a quarter of a turn, and it'll lock the pin in place. To unlock it, turn it and the pin drops down, you can remove it. Two keys are included. Now, if you do want multiple locks keyed the same, you can order these on the product page of this part number. There's a dropdown box that you could check key to like and then how many you need.

Now, this lock is made in the USA. Specs again, the application is a trigger, fits the trigger style latch couplers that have fit a two and five-sixteenths diameter ball. As we've mentioned, a coupler must have the flat bottom lip, like this one here.And the maximum coupler width that this lock will fit on, in other words, the width, including the lip, is going to be. I'll measure the opening on the lock. Four and a half inches. And the maximum lip thickness that it'll fit over is right at five-sixteenths of an inch. So again, just to demonstrate, slide that on, push the pin up, take your key, put it in there, turn it a quarter of a turn and you're locked in place. Nobody's going to be able to take it. And then, to remove it, just put your key in, turn it, the pin drops out, slide it right off.
