Molecular imaging allows for the visualization of cellular functions by using optically detectable fluorescent biomarkers for the detection and diagnosis for diseases. Unfortunately, these agents can cause adverse side effects for the patient.
The development of a photosensor based on a conductive polymer and quantum dots could improve the performance of current photosensors, thus minimizing the concentration of fluorescent agents required and potentially reducing the negative side effects experienced by the patient.
