Filmed on May 31. #peonies #gardentour #flowers
I visited this peony garden at around the peak bloom time. I don’t have the right growing conditions to get a lot of flowers on my peonies (although I keep trying), so it was like a dream being surrounded by the different varieties of big beautiful blooms. This video has some highlights of what stood out when I was there. I hope it conveys how incredibly pretty the peonies looked to me, and I hope you enjoy watching it 🥰😊.

Herbaceous peonies vs tree peonies vs ITOH peonies:
Herbaceous peonies die back or are cut back to the ground in the winter and start fresh in the spring. Tree peonies have woody stems that aren’t cut back, and they shed their leaves in the winter (i.e. they’re small deciduous shrubs). They are taller and typically have bigger flowers than herbaceous peonies. Intersectional peonies (ITOH peonies) are a cross between herbaceous and tree peonies. They are like herbaceous peonies in that they die back to the ground in the winter, but they have the bigger, showier flowers of tree peonies and have a wider range of colours.
