Wiener Prater - Know Before You Go
Wiener Prater is Vienna's city amusement park it’s like a permanent carnival with a huge number of rides and attractions. Each attraction has an individual owner, therefore there is no pay-one-price wristband you must pay for each ride separately. My top tips for visiting Prater are as follows;
Take Cash
Not many rides took card, even the toilets required a coin to enter. Budget
As attractions are pay per go, this can quickly add up. Set a budget before hand and do your best to stick to it.
Prioritise
The rides that are important to you
Pace Your Day
The park has quite long operating hours 10am to 1am - not everything opened at 10am most rides tend to open from noon and some closed early - so I wouldn’t leave everything until late in case you miss out.
Night Rides
Visiting after dark when all the rides are lit up adds a whole extra layer of atmosphere to the park
Visit on Peak Days
Unlike most other amusement parks where you’d try to avoid the peak days, hitting prater on a weekend, in the summer holidays is probably a good idea so you have the best chances of all the rides being open.
Take In The View
Wiener Riesenrad is the famous ferris wheel one of Vienna’s landmarks.
I’d also recommend the NENI am Prater restaurant and bar, which has an amazing roof deck that overlooks Prater.
No Spoilers
Don’t spoil the dark rides and attractions by watching POVs - many of the rides have some surprise that are best not spoiled.
From the indoor attractions I experienced the top ones I’d recommend would be Blue Planet, Eisberg, Hotel Psycho, and the Insider Rollercoaster
Have you visited Prater before? What did you think of the park?
Do you have any tips I didn’t include?
