If you randomly receive an email with subject:
"Your account is on hold "
Within the email you may see "Please Update Your Payment Details".
It may be official, but it may not.
RULE #1. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK WITHIN THE EMAIL!!!!
Here is what I suggested in the email:
1. Open a new browser and instead go to netflix.com. If you log into netflix their.. you may notice any warning messages instead.
2. Review your email:
a. Is the from address of the email unusual (non netflix.com email address)
b. Is the email address you have have NO NETFLIX account at all.
c. When you hover of the link to "UPDATE ACCOUNT NOW", at the bottom left.. is the website a NON netflix.com website??
d. When you scroll to the bottom of the email... are most of the hyperlinks disabled?
Anyways.. the key takeaway from this is:
NEVER click on the link within an email from netflix. There are some cases where you might want to... but in the case of your account is on hold. In my limited opinion... your better off logging into netflix by opening a new browser and typing in www.netflix.com.
