Concept
Finite Verbs :- The verb which changes its form according to the subject or tense of the sentence is called a finite verb.
Non-Finite Verbs :- The verb which doesn't change its form according to the subject or tense of the sentence is called a nonfinite verb.
* There are three kind/types of a non-finite verb
(1) Infinitive, (2) Gerund and (3) Participle
[1] Infinitives :- Infinitive is the base form of a verb often preceded by 'to'.
--- It works as a noun or an adjective or and adverb in a sentence.
--- Sometimes and infinitive is used without the marker to it is called a 'bare infinitive.
[2] Gerend :- When the -ing form of a verb (V + ing) is used as a noun, it is called a gerund.
[3] Participle :- When the -ing form or the 3rd form of a verb is used to form continuous tenses or perfect tenses respectively or if it is used as an adjective, it is called a participle.
* There are three kinds of a participle (i) Present Participle, (ii) Past Participle & (iii) Perfect Participle
(i) Present Participle :- When the -ing form of a verb is used to form continuous tenses or used as an adjective, it is called a present participle.
Note :- Difference between a Gerund and a Present Participle
Gerund = Verbal Noun
Present Participle = Verbal Adjective / Used to form continuous tenses
(ii) Past Participle :- When the 3rd form of a verb is used to form perfect tenses or used as an adjective, it is called a past participle.
(iii) Perfect Participle :- Perfect Participles demonstrate that an action was completed in the past.
Its form is --- Having + Past Participle (V3).
