Voted the most popular track in the UK, this annual Battle of Britain held at the Frittenden club's Sandhurst Bridge Farm venue, really stands up to it's racing. Year after year it produces some great racing in all classes. With a big thunderstorm the night before racing, track conditions were perfect. No dust at all, and plenty of grip. A mouth watering battle in the Upright Solo's looked to be on the cards, with Stephan Green up against the more experienced Bob Dolman. Two different styles that lead to a brilliant final.
The 350cc Solo's saw another great battle with Mark Giles taking on the evergreen Dave Mears.
Some really tight action in the LH Sidecar class, with Will Penfold/Ricky Pay looking to stamp their authority on the class, but with Martin Cuff/Colin Clark on their much light machine, and Tony (Char) Penfold also on a much lighter machine, it would not be an easy day for Will & Ricky.
Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth are looking as Quick as ever, so could anyone stop their charge in 2018?
Add in the 500cc Sidecars, with Josh Goodwin/Liam Brown looking for another win in 2018, but there were some other crews who also had their eyes on the prize, including Barrie Bennett, Shaun Hughes, Simon Beard, and new crew to the sport and ex Speedway rider Chris Hay and brother Aaron looking really quick in practice. Was there a surprise in store?
A cracking first meeting of the year for the Frittenden club.
