It's been a little over a year since I purchased the Sony a7 IV, and as a run and gun photographer and videographer that covers a variety of different gigs, I've been using it on almost any gig and occasion I can think of.  But if there's one thing I've learned in my time using this camera, it's how wrong about this camera's capabilities, and the many preconceived notions around the a7 IV when I first purchased it.

In this review, I'll go over my 12+ month long-term review of the Sony a7 IV, and describe why as an a7S III and a7R V owner, the a7 IV still might be the perfect camera for you, as I've found on a number of occasions myself.  We'll start by covering the photo capabilities of the camera, including its 33 megapixel sensor, recent improvements and added features in RAW formats, autofocus, and ergonomics.  Yet we'll also cover the video capabilities of the a7 IV, discussing the many improvements and enhancements this camera contains over previous Sony models - from pictures profiles, to 10-bit 4:2:2, breathing compensation, focus map, variable shutter, and the camera's ability to shoot 4K 60fps.

However, no camera is technically perfect, and the a7 IV does have its flaws.  But how impactful would these flaws be in my day-to-day use of it?  To cover this, I'll explore the different cons of the camera that exist, and relate them in the context of what I got wrong about them, and describe just how impactful - or not - these limitations ended up being.  Furthermore, I'll also discuss the key weekend of use for the a7 IV that not only surprised me the most about the camera, but ultimately sold me on it.  Last, I'll provide my final thoughts on the a7 IV as a purchase overall.
