On July 27, 1953, the Korean War armistice was signed at Panmunjom, ending three years of fighting.
Armistice Is Signed
The truce talks that started in 1951 finally end on July 27, 1953. The Allies win their demand that no anti-Communist prisoners are to be forced to return to Communist domination against their will. The armistice is signed by General Clark, North Korean Premier Kim Il Sun and Chinese Communist General Peng Teh-huai.
