This was the last Dream Cruise ever at the Pontiac Phoenix Center. Pontiac Emergency Manager Lou Schimmel has said that he has decided to demolish the Phoenix Center amphitheater and parking garage at a cost between $1.6 to $2 million, and turn it into a paid-only parking lot. What a sad ending to wonderful plaza.
The Emergency Manager Lou Schimmel was appointed by the Republican Governor of Michigan, and has been accused of looting the city for his personal financial gain. Unlike an elected mayor, he is entitled to make a profit on the destruction of the city and has virtually unlimited powers to do what he wants.
