Using Cinema mode, the window highlights are not blown out any more!
I don't use it for everything (I don't need it for well lit scenes), but when you need extreme dynamic range, the Cinema mode really works.
Shooting settings:
-Cine2 gamma/Normal4 color matrix ISO850
-Cinema mode ISO850
Comparison between:
-ungraded footage
-contrast only (via luma curve)
-contrast and colour grading
