In this video I had visited the clan jetties who were chinese migrants in the 19th century, though the existence of these stilt houses dated back almost a hundred years ago. There are six jetties remaining after one was demolished by fire. The largest and most crowded is the Chew jetty which has its own temple, souvenirs being sold along the wooden piers as you walk the path to the loading bay. (I didn't made my way there) I spent my time in the oldest three jetties and not so touristy area. Thank you to the caretaker of the house (3:58) at the new jetty. Apologies for intruding the amazing house! ☺️ I thought it was open for public when I saw one family took pictures as though they were tourists like me. I was lucky though!!! Wish to be back there when it officially opens. 😍
