Ingredients -
Serves 2
500 gms Chicken
1 tbsp Ghee
1 tbsp Oil
2 Bay Leaves
Cinnamon Sticks
Red Chilli
4 Cloves
10 Black Peppercorns
3 Green Cardamoms
1 Black Cardamom
1 Onion (Chopped)
1 tsp Ginger Paste
1 tsp Garlic Paste
1 Green Chilly (Stilted)
Tomato Puree (3 Tomatoes)
Salt (As per taste)
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp Coriander Seed Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1/2 Cumin Seed Powder
Turmeric Powder (1 Pinch)
500 gms Chicken
1.5 Cups Water
1 Potato (Chopped)
Coriander Leaves (Chopped)
Method:
1. Heat the cooker, once that is done add the Ghee and the Oil to the heated Vessel.
2. As the ghee starts to melt, Bay Leaves, Cinnamon Sticks, Red chilli and cloves. Saute these ingredients well.
3. Roughly grind the peppercorns, green cardamom and black cardamom and add them to the pan.
4. Stir well for about a minute.
5. Once you can smell the aroma, add onion and saute it till they look slightly golden.
6. Add ginger, garlic paste along with the chillies and mix well till the ginger and garlic is well cooked.
7. Add the tomato puree, stir the mix well.
8. Add salt, Red chilly powder, coriander seed powder, garam masala powder, cumin seed powder and a pinch of turmeric powder, stir this mix well and let it cook for a couple of minutes.
9. Add 500gms of chicken and mix the chicken well with the masala mix.
10. Once the mix is complete, add the water to the followed by the potato.
11. Stir well and let it simmer. Let the curry cook on high flame for about 4 whistles.
Serve the chicken curry with chopped coriander leaves on top.
