CERVICAL SPINE DIAGNOSIS
While assessing cervical spine injuries, history of fall from a height or an accident is suspected. Among the imaging techniques, plain X-rays of high quality are advised for diagnosis. In lateral view of X-ray, all the seven cervical vertebrae must be included along with upper half of T1. Likewise, anteroposterior view is also highlighted. Lastly, Dr. Hammad Haider highlights the diagnostic pitfalls in children.

UPPER CERVICAL SPINE
Diagnosis of occipital condyle fracture can be missed on plain X-ray. For diagnosing another high energy injury i.e. occipitocervical dislocation, CT scans are more reliable. After that, C1 ring fracture along with rule of spence comes under consideration. C2 traumatic spondylolisthesis is also discussed in detail whose stability is determined by C2/3 disc status. This is followed by C2 odontoid process fracture. Then classification of odontoid fractures is represented which is based on Anderson and D’alonzo classification.
