The 56th Frankfurt International Motor Show got into gear on
Tuesday (12/9), promising something for every taste and every
pocket. Mercedes spent DM 20 million (US$ 15 million) on their five-floor stand, which was used to introduce new models included the luxury 600 series and a new supercharged "Kompressor" model. British car manufacturer Jaguar was singled out for particular praise. The marque, now owned by Ford, has doubled its sales in Germany over the last year. Managing Director Hartmut Kieven put the Jaguar's success in Germany to strict quality control in the car's manufacture and Germany's love of classic cars. BMW unveiled their new five series to favourable reviews and South Korean was well represented in the middle and low range car ranges. European manufacturer Ford put on display
its revamped best-selling Ford Fiesta and Swedish car maker Volvo
launched the new mid-range S4. Citroen's concept car was also well
received by critics.
