In this video, we dive into the differences between Bike Life setups and Retro Big Bike BMX builds, with JimP showing us his stunning Hutch XL29 Bike Life build! 🚴♂️
While attending the 2024 Buckeye Bike Show, I had the pleasure of chatting with JimP419, a passionate rider who has fully embraced the Bike Life movement. In this video, Jim walks us through his Hutch XL29 setup, optimized for wheelies and tricks that define Bike Life culture. He shares the specific components and modifications that make his XL29 perfect for his riding style, while also explaining how it differs from the retro-inspired builds like my 26” GT Performer and 26” Hutch Hollywood, which lean more towards old-school BMX vibes.
Along the way, we also take a nostalgic look at Jim's original 1984 Hutch Pro Raider from his childhood, which plays a big part in why he chose Hutch over SE Bikes—something rare among the Bike Life crowd.
If you're curious about the differences between Bike Life and Retro BMX big bikes, or you're just here for a detailed Hutch XL29 bike check, you're in for a treat!
