Frank Rogalla from Aqualia in Madrid and Patrick Rembe from ESCI talk about the work his company is working on in case study Lleida in Spain.
Aqualia is a private operating company that provides water supply and wastewater treatment for about 20 million people in Spain. In ULTIMATE, Aqualia has the task of working together with an industry, in this case a brewery, which is also a large consumer of water and a large producer of wastewater. In Lleida, Aqualia is responsible for the entire water supply of the city of Lleida and operates the water management of the Mahou brewery. The symbiosis here is between the two activities of the industry and public supply. The aim is to further reduce water consumption and to reuse by-products from water recycling.
