India's Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to present key bills in Parliament today, including the Banking Laws Amendment Bill, which aims to amend the Reserve Bank of India Act (1934) and the Banking Regulation Act. Additionally, the Railways Amendment Bill 2024 will be considered in the lower house, while the Oil Fields Regulation and Development Amendment Bill 2024, along with the Aviation Bill (Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024), will be discussed in the upper house. However, there are concerns over whether Parliament will function smoothly due to ongoing opposition disruptions, which have led to a washout of the first week’s proceedings, despite the importance of these bills and critical issues such as minority rights in Bangladesh.
