Tips for your first time to Zoo Miami: bring water bottles, sunscreen, and a fan if you have it. They allow backpacks, wagons, strollers, etc.

If you only want to come for a day, plan on spending four hours touring the entire Miami zoo; more time if you do animal experiences or paddle boats.
