Monster Sport was started by legendary rally hill climb racing driver, tuning shop owner, rally team manager Nobuhiro Tajima. Nicknamed ‘Monster Tajima’. In 1983, he formed ‘Suzuki Sport’ which was effectively the Motorsport arm for Suzuki Motors to complete in top level racing, rally and the infamous Pikes Peak Hillclimb challenge. Players of the early Gran Turismo game series will probably remember the ‘Pikes Peak Escudo’ A 900hp twin engine belonged and front spoiler monster car that Tajima San brought to victory in 1995. Monster sport also campaigned various Swift models in the Junior WRC. Winning many rallies and helping to develop tuning parts for Suzuki sports cars.
Join us as we visit one of their Monster Sport in Machida as we begin to explore the history, concept and philosophy behind Monster Sport and Tajima San’s legacy. On display is the latest ZC33S Swift Sport demo car. With a complete engine with aftermarket turbos, ECU and intake & exhaust tuned by Monster engineers to give 200PS and 32kgm. The potential of this compact front drive car will be interesting to explore in future episodes.
