Welcome to our latest home studio adventure, "From Vintage Bass Drum to Modern Studio: Our Quest for the Bonham Sound"! In this video, we take on the challenge of replicating the legendary drum sound of John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, using a vintage bass drum and modern recording gear.
Conflicting information is available online suggesting Bonham may have used felt strips on the batter head, on both heads, or not used them at all, so we put all three to the test in this video to hear the difference!
Whether you're a fan of Led Zeppelin or just interested in home recording techniques, you won't want to miss this video. We're confident that our hard work and experimentation will help you achieve the Bonham drum sound in your own home studio.
Either way, this is our attempt at a Zeppelin style drum sound using our completely untreated room, into a budget recording rig, mixed entirely with stock plugins found inside of Logic Pro X.
