Why do I keep seeing fake counterfeit Thomas The Tank, Disney Cars, Frozen, Pokemon, Peppa Pig, Transformers, Lego toys being sold in big name shopping malls? This activity seems to ramp up around Christmas every year. With the rise of short lease pop up shops so often I see them selling cheap clone toys that are basically rubbish. Something new I see is $1 knockoff LEGO minifigures and these sell out really fast. There is Batman, Spiderman, FNAF, Pokemon, Toy Story, Fortnite, Avengers, Disney Frozen to name just a few. Some of these toy franchises are represented in the real LEGO toy lines but some are not. I know via the LEGO Fair Play legal read the LEGO company is not keen on the masses of copy minifigures that are now being sold in places where you should only see real LEGO products. Anyway the retailers who are selling the clone copy toys are few but in reality there should be none. If I see this sort of activity at mixed dark markets or local fairs that's normal. Anyway I send a message to the shopping malls via my Google review and add pictures of the fake toys so everyone can see what's going on. All I know is this has not stopped the rise of the dark side within shopping areas that should be a quality shopping experience.
In the nice shopping malls I also see curious LEGO minifigure earrings. These are based on all the very popular LEGO toy franchises. Disney Frozen, Spiderman, Batman, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Toy Story, Simpsons, Marvel and DC character. On closer inspection these LEGO minifigures are actually clone / fake minifigures. So now I wonder if there is a legal loophole when turning a fake toy into a 'inspired design' earring. No where on these earrings does it claim to be LEGO or have any brand or franchise rights. So we will let the online Kangaroo court sort this one out.
